Volunteer!

The Ride 4 United Way needs many volunteers to assist in various areas. Some areas include Set Up, Registration, Rest Stops & Marshalling. Volunteers will be asked to attend an orientation session prior to the event. Dates for orientation to be determined. Bring your enthusiasm & come on out & join us for the day. If you are interested in volunteering, please fill in the information below.

Volunteer Jobs and Descriptions

Please indicate in your the volunteer job(s) you would like to perform or you will be assigned according to need.

Marshalls: 46

Timing: 6:30 am - 6:00 pm

Job: Direct and encourage riders as they pass

Marshalls will be relocated based on need. Must have cell phone, appropriate dress (as they will be outside for the majority of the day), lawn chair, sun screen, hat, food, book, iPOD and jacket or umbrella if required. Marshalls will be supervised by team captains.

Rest Stops: 16

Timing: 7:00 am - 6:00 pm

Job: Stay at rest stops en route, serve food and drinks to the riders, give encouragement, provide information.

Cycling knowledge is helpful but not mandatory

Rider Deregistration & Finish Line: 6

Timing: 9:00 am - 6:00 pm

Job: Manage de-registration table and encourage riders upon their return, ensure that all riders are accounted for, collect bibs, chips and update rider check in list.

Set up: 10

Timing: 5:30 am - 9:00 am (if available to stay, will be reassigned)

Job: Organize and set up home base before the riders arrive. Set up tables, signs, food, start line, riders pens, sound system etc.

Tear Down: 10

Timing: 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Job: Taking down home base at the end of the day, return inventory to United Way office and/or assigned staging areas

As with any full day event, there will be periods of high demand and stretches of seemingly nothing to do. We appreciate your patience and support. A willingness to be reassigned throughout the day is also appreciated.
